We’ve all had a teacher in our lifetime who handed out grades with next-to-no justification.
Erica got a B- in her college speech class and other far-less-skilled public speakers got B+s and As. And when she pressed the teacher on why she hadn’t been given a higher grade, he told her it was because she had started strong but didn’t improve much over the course of the quarter.
And while at the time she didn’t love his justification, Erica can now appreciate the importance of tracking performance so you aren’t just resting on your laurels or your natural talent or your inherited healthy email list.
